When Ilaisa Tabukovu founded our company over a decade ago, he brought with him a wealth of experience in architecture and a passion for creating innovative and unique spaces. Starting from humble beginnings, we have since grown into a thriving business that serves clients across the South Island, building a reputation for exceptional design and construction solutions.

Transforming Spaces Across the South Island

In the past two years, we have completed numerous projects throughout the South Island, continuously striving to connect with clients who seek unparalleled building solutions. Our mission extends beyond just creating beautiful spaces; we aim to foster strong partnerships with diverse building companies, ensuring that every project we undertake offers unmatched value to our clients and partners in the construction industry.

A Renovation to Remember

One of our standout projects involved a comprehensive renovation that seamlessly blended the old with the new. This design featured a mix of new exterior finishes, a state-of-the-art media room, and a new master bedroom, all while retaining the charm of the existing household.

This renovation design combines an existing household with new exterior finishes as well as a media room and a new master bedroom.

Unique Features of this project include…
    • Major design required that could work in the exposed timber flooring, exposed timber ceiling, plus beams and rafters. Old timber arch windows were reused for this project, saving the client costs.
    • We worked closely with the existing environment, retaining as much of the existing landscaping as possible and minimising impacts.
    • Views of the stunning scenery were also maximised through larger windows that were strategically positioned to capture light and views
    • Kept existing farm / villa house structure, combining old world charm with modern aesthetic.

Collaboration was the key to the success of this project and for the ID team working closely with the client to achieve vision. This renovation was designed by Architect, Denise Wright. We spoke to the property owner, Hamish, about their vision for the project and how it succeeded in more living space and connection with our beautiful environment outdoors.

Denise’s practice was called Wright Architecture. She is retired now and Riversleigh Road was her last concept/ design.

Our lead designer, Ilaisa Tabukovu, finalised the detailed drawings for consent.

"It was always a bit of a family project, my wife and I had intended to extend the original cottage for a long time. We actually went through 3 lots of concepts, all of which Ilaisa drew up. We settled on the last one due to the scale and cost – other designs got a bit too big and costly – and Ilaisa then completed the detailed drawings for consent. We are satisfied that we made the right choice in the end, I think it is easy to build too big at times and what we have finished with fits the brief perfectly; more living space and connection with our beautiful environment outdoors!"
- Hamish Wright

Lots of elements were tailor made for the build, the church windows for example and the bathroom which was entirely designed by Jane.
